TTC was founded by government in Feb, 2004. The establishment of TTC is for keeping up the international trend of digital convergence of technology and development in fields of information, communications and broadcasting, and then to reinforce the proactive regulatory research and strengthen function of technology regulatory supervision.
To approach long term development of telecom and communication, "Plan of Telecom Technology Center" has been subsumed in the "Challenge 2008: National Development Plan" by the Executive Yuan in 2002.
Vision and Mission
In accordance with the governmental policies, TTC puts its emphases on assisting the government in both the regulatory related matters for the communications and IT security and the research on ICT technologies and industries. Besides, TTC is working on the vision to position itself as a national-level InfoCom technology center.
TTC's main missions are:
- To be a think-tank assisting the government in the fields of info-communications industrial policies and technologies
- To be a promoter for digital convergence
- To be a national-level info-communications certification center
- To drive the development of info-communications industry in southern Taiwan
It is inevitable that the telecom, broadcasting and information will continue converging on digital technology. With this in mind, TTC will strive to grasp both market and industry trend. Under the supervision of National Communication Commission (NCC), TTC will bring its role of national-level certification center into full play with the belief of foresighted, specialized and vigorous, and to coordinate with National Science Council, Science and Technology Advisory Group and Office of National Science and Technology Program for Telecommunications (NTPO) to integrate national technology resources. In consideration of promoting regional balance, TTC will help the government and ICT industry with the innovation of ICT services and applications. It is expected that by incorporating technology capacity from government, industry and academia, our info-communications industry will further grow to become the core engine of the third industry with output values over NT$1 trillion in Taiwan.
